Headlight Anthology celebrated its twentieth anniversary with the theme 20/20. Representing hindsight, perfect vision, a test, an age, the publication invited submissions that reflected on the past while looking to the future. The titles are reminiscent of optometrist’s poster and the embossed, textured cover signals the moment when everything comes into focus.

Headlight Anthology Volume 21 takes up the theme of Interruptions. As Concordia University’s Department of English experienced an interruption of its own, the anthology invited submissions that consider tradition and innovation, vulnerability, and power relations.

The publication’s section headers are interrupted with hyphens, distorting the natural flow. A vellum insert censors the volume’s title, interrupting the experience of reading the text while also reflecting on the way interruptions to the status quo are so often censored.
